Update 15.4 for Spirit Crossing introduces the Feast of Bears event, a revamp to Waystation crafting stations, and adjustments to tournament rewards. The patch also brings character customization options including equipable Flairs and changes to pickaxe harvesting checks.

Feast of Bears

Autumn in the Crosslands marks the approach of bear hibernation, with the Feast of Bears celebrations starting on September 30th. During the event, bears harvest rainbow corn, build offering tables, light candles, and celebrate with dancing and feasting aplenty. Waystation members can contribute to the Bear Feast Fund to receive additional rewards. Players can also visit the Feast of Bears Merch Store in the Village to buy bear-themed decor and clothing.

Crafting Stations Rework

Waystation crafting stations were unified to simplify progression and reduce confusion, meaning stations no longer have upgraded tiers. Stations no longer have recipe limits or require recipe fragments to install crafting recipes. Anyone can add recipes to waystation stations without needing to collect votes from other members.

Waystation crafting stations can only contain basic Common and Uncommon recipes. Seasonal event exclusive recipes are no longer allowed in waystations crafting stations. Active members of waystations all receive Recipe Fragments and Beacon Sparks to compensate for disallowed recipes. Developers also removed the happiness levels from crafting tables. Crafting station descriptions now specify that the Architect Role is required to purchase them.

Recipes are purchased with Recipe Fragments instead of Beacon Sparks. Players obtain Recipe Fragments by purchasing them from Joule, Rudi, the Decorologist decor shop, or waystation vending machines. Repairing decor items to complete Waystation Goals now grants Recipe Fragments instead of Beacon Energy. Fragments can also be recycled for 3 coins each.

Spark Nails

Developers introduced Spark Nails as a new crafting resource required to craft Epic and Legendary items. Each Epic decor item requires one Spark Nail, and each Legendary item requires three Spark Nails. Small chances exist to discover nails within Wilderness Pots and Chaos Shrines. Players can purchase bundles of 5 nails for 1 Beacon Spark, or buy bundles of 3 nails from Joule for 30 Shrinework Parts.

Wilderness Activities

Pickaxe harvesting skill checks received adjustments to make success easier by increasing the sweet spots size. The final hit of a co-op sweet spot activity will always succeed. Players can also use an accessibility setting to substantially reduce the speed of the sweet spot harvesting check without altering rewards. Proposals in the Wilderness are limited to 20 per day per player, and mural contribution limits are set to 1 square per person.

Fishing and Blot tournaments now run multiple times on scheduled days to match Foot Race schedules. Major tournament reward brackets were added for Top 25% and Top 10%. When players turn in Fish or Blots for a tournament, they automatically receive the amount of paper or ink that would have been obtained from purifying them.

Economy Balancing Changes

Hairstyles are once again tradeable among players. Lunar Rocks and Spore Wood nodes now work with tool enhancements, allowing players to earn extra resources with Bounty or extra coins with Riches. All Patterns have been made not tradeable. Developers added 4 new Tuber sources to each Wilderness.

Wilderness Pots can now only be harvested once per Wilderness instead of on a daily basis. As a result of this change, 45% of pots yield decor, clothing, recipes, or gifts. Small salvage was completely removed from the wilderness pots loot pool.

Player Houses & Build Mode

Wanderers can now place the main wilderness traversables, such as jump pads, launch pads, lift fans, and ladders, inside their player homes. Potted plants will now only wither (not die) and can be recovered by watering them again. Home crafting tables can now be accessed by visitors who hold Guest permissions or higher. Players can also place objects and decor on top of flat top fences.

Socialization and Customization

Flairs are a new type of equipable tags displayed on player profiles alongside moods. Players can equip up to 3 flairs simultaneously to express their personality. Participants who played during the playtest unlock the exclusive Beta Tester flair.

Major Spirits progression was updated so that each spirit features 10 friendship levels with dedicated conversations, shops, and milestone rewards. Friendship progression with this month’s Major Spirits was reset in 15.4 to clean up legacy playtest issues while preserving ongoing progress.
